AG200-15 is a new, low dose contraceptive patch currently in clinical development for prevention of pregnancy in reproductive aged women. The patch is provided in a 28-day regimen; it is replaced after every 7 days for 3 weeks, followed by a 7-day “patch-free” period. It is round, about 2.25 inches in diameter, and can be applied to the abdomen, buttocks and upper torso.
EE dose is equivalent to an oral dose of approximately 30 mcg (approx. half the amount of estrogen found in Ortho Evra®).
The figure below compares the ethinyl estradiol (EE) exposure of AG200-15, Evra® and Levlen® (30 mcg EE and 150 mcg LNG) as calculated by Area Under Curve (AUC), an accepted regulatory standard for evaluating drug exposure.
