Katie MacFarlane is a senior-level executive with over 21 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, including drug development, marketing, and sales management. Katie began her career with the Parke-Davis division of Warner-Lambert, where she worked in clinical research, marketing and sales management. She had senior-level marketing responsibility for the launches of Lipitor® and Celexa®. Katie also held the position of Regional Sales Director, where she was responsible for sales force planning and implementation, including the integration with Pfizer, Inc. following the merger in 2000.
More recently, Katie was Vice President of Women’s Health and New Product Planning at Warner Chilcott, where she had responsibility for marketing, sales, and commercialization of the women’s health portfolio, including sales force planning and configuration. While at Warner Chilcott, Katie oversaw the sales and marketing of several products for contraception and menopause, including Ovcon®, Estrostep®, Femring®, Femhrt®, Femtrace®, and Sarafem®, and the introduction of Loestrin® 24.
Katie is now managing partner of SmartPharma LLC, a pharmaceutical consulting firm specializing in new product commercialization. She develops market assessments, commercial plans, and sales force analysis for companies with products in development as well as companies evaluating products for licensing or acquisition. Her experience spans multiple therapeutic areas including Women’s Health, CNS, Cardiology, Vaccines, and Dermatology.
Katie received her B.S. Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She also completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Industrial Pharmacy Practice with Rutgers University and Hoffmann-LaRoche. Katie was named a Distinguished Alumni of the Purdue School of Pharmacy in 1999.
